Gross Gaming Revenue in Spain up by almost 20% in Q3 2022

Gross Gaming Revenue in Spain increased by almost 20% in the third quarter of 2022, according to data released by the country’s General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling.

The figures, released at the end of the year, show that the sector registered a GGR of €240.83m, representing an increase of 18% when compared to the previous quarter and by 31% when compared to the same quarter in 2021.

Player deposits increased by 26.72% and withdrawals increased by 24.85% when compared to the previous year.

When compared with the previous quarters. Deposits increased by 4.6% and withdrawals decreased by 8.7%.

Marketing expenditure increased by 7.79%, when compared to the previous quarter.

On the other hand, new accounts decreased by 4.01%

The €240m GGR was split as follows: €89.04m in Bets; €3.68m in Bingo;?€127.95m in Casino (53.13%), €0.03m in Contests (0.01%) and €20.14m in Poker.

GGR data by sector

By sector, the data shows that the Betting segment grew by 46.20% when compared to the previous quarter, and by 48.61% when compared to the same quarter of 2021.

There was a 9.63% increase in Bingo, when compared to the previous quarter. When compared to the same quarter of 2021, the increase was of 4.64%.

The Casino segment saw a growth of 9.22% when compared to Q2 of 2022 but, when compared to the same quarter of 2021, growth stood at 27.55%.

During the third quarter of 2022, bankruptcies increased by 215.95%, but there was a decrease of 72.10% when compared to a year earlier.

The Poker segment experienced a decrease of 10.64% when compared to the previous quarter, and an increase of 2.83% when compared to Q3 of 2021.

€96m spent on marketing

The marketing spend in Q3 2022 was €96.31 million.

This can be broken down into: €10.34m on affiliation expenses, 1.78m on sponsorships, 41.47m on promotions, and 42.73m on advertising.

The monthly average of active gaming accounts, standing at 999,322, signified a marginal decrease of 0.07% over the previous quarter but an increase of 9.18% when compared to the same quarter in 2021.
