Alexa Roseblade joins GamCare as Chief of Staff

Gambling support charity GamCare has announced the appointment of Alexa Roseblade as its new Chief of Staff, effective immediately. Roseblade will join the charity’s leadership team, overseeing operational delivery, governance, and strategic partnerships.

With a proven track record in the charity sector, Roseblade brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She joined GamCare after four years of leading the Children and Young People’s Team, where she led the successful implementation of the Young People’s Gambling Harm Prevention Programme (YPGHPP). Under her leadership, the YPGHPP reached over 133,000 young people and 28,000 professionals through workshops and support services.

In her new position, Roseblade will be instrumental in driving GamCare’s mission to reduce gambling harms in the UK. She will work closely with the board and leadership team to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen governance practises, and foster new partnerships.

“I am delighted to welcome Alexa as our new Chief of Staff,” said Margot Daly, Executive Chair at GamCare. “I look forward to Alexa’s expertise in supporting GamCare’s Board – and our leadership team – to continue delivering towards our mission of reducing gambling harms in the UK.”

Roseblade expressed her enthusiasm for the new role: “In my four years at GamCare I have seen the vital work our dedicated staff deliver for those who need our support. Not just through our Helpline and Treatment services, but our many impactful prevention and education programmes. I’m looking forward to working closely with GamCare’s staff and Board to support the charity as we enter a new chapter for gambling support services in the UK.”

Sharp rise of calls to gambling helpline

At the beginning of 2024, GamCare reported a notable increase in calls and online contacts to its National Gambling Helpline in 2023, with a 24 percent rise from 2022. This surge is largely attributed to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and increased gambling advertising. In response to the growing demand, the helpline has expanded its services, introducing a new WhatsApp channel and strengthening partnerships with blocking software providers.
